Managing or implementing program delivery, keeping track of multiple tasks or responsibilities, or managing any kind of project requires some kind of structured approach in order to ensure that project objectives are met or deliverables are achieved on time and within budget. There is no such thing as a “one size fits all” approach in this regard. The right amount of process and structure is needed for each job so that creativity, flexibility and innovation are not impeded.
I’ve been very fortunate to have received comprehensive project management training. Furthermore, I’ve experienced the rewards associated with successfully managing many varied projects through to successful conclusions. I”m dedicated to providing the tools to others to allow them to successfully manage their own projects. Issue and risk management are key elements of effective project management. Years of practical application of project management principles in this context have resulted in mediation and negotiation facilitation techniques which help to ensure that all outstanding issues are resolved before the project itself could be successfully concluded.
Organisational and Strategic Planning
Planning for success is vital for any enterprise and there is significant benefit in learning about the process of planning strategically. However, strategic thinking is itself a specific skill which is just as important and able to be acquired. The skills required to think strategically are the bedrock of any planning process.
Effective planning and strategic thinking is underpinned by an understanding of many factors which include;
- the ability to see behind – realistic visions of the future are often rooted in an awareness and understanding of history
- being able to see the ‘big picture’ – its often useful to step back and look at things from a distance to gain more insight or understanding
- seeing things from within – drilling down into a set of issues often helps to better understand a whole raft of issues
- seeing beyond the horizon – creating a vision of what is desired will assist to keep things on track
Having had many years of practical experience in strategic planning for a variety of purposes, I am eager to help others – wherever possible – to achieve their goals and aspirations.
